Data source: Meridian Energy / NZX — weekly. Energy basis (GWh); New Zealand publishes no official national filling degree, so storage is shown against the 93-year average and the 1927–2025 range. Figures are read from the weekly report’s vector geometry, not estimated by eye. Last reading: 2026-09-07.

About North Island

This is the aggregate hydro storage of the North Island — the combined controllable storage of its hydro lakes, reported as energy (GWh). Almost all of New Zealand’s controllable storage sits in the South Island, so the South Island figure closely tracks the national picture.
