reservoirs.earth is an independent open-data platform that aggregates and presents reservoir storage levels from official national government sources, and produces the semi-annual Reservoir Transparency Index (RTI) ranking 194 countries on water-data openness.

The site is not affiliated with any government body, water authority, intergovernmental organisation or commercial entity.

The original derived datasets, the RTI methodology and rankings, the source code, the visual design and the editorial text published on reservoirs.earth are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0) unless otherwise specified.

Underlying official reservoir data published by national authorities follows each source's licence. Most are public domain or open government data. See the Data Methodology for source-by-source attribution.

Third-party logos, country names and trademarks (USGS, BOM, NVE, MITECO, etc.) are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification purposes only.

reservoirs.earth is hosted on commercial cloud infrastructure. The hosting provider may temporarily process IP addresses and request metadata as part of normal web-server operation. See the Privacy Policy for details.

The publisher of reservoirs.earth is based in Spain. Any dispute arising from the use of this site is governed by Spanish law and the courts of the publisher's domicile.

Users from other jurisdictions remain subject to the protections of their local consumer and data-protection laws (e.g. GDPR in the EU/EEA).
