One-line description
reservoirs.earth is an open platform that tracks reservoir storage levels worldwide using official government data and produces the semi-annual Reservoir Transparency Index ranking 194 countries on water-data openness.
Suggested boilerplate (50 words)
reservoirs.earth is an independent open-data initiative tracking reservoir storage in 10 countries — Spain, the United States, Portugal, Brazil, India, South Africa, Pakistan, Australia, Colombia and Norway — using official national hydrological sources. It produces the semi-annual Reservoir Transparency Index, a 0–100 score evaluating 194 countries on how openly they publish their reservoir data.
About the Reservoir Transparency Index (RTI)
The RTI is a semi-annual ranking that scores each country from 0 to 100 on the openness of its national reservoir storage data. It evaluates seven weighted dimensions: coverage (30%), data availability (20%), technical accessibility (15%), historical depth (12.5%), update frequency (10%), methodological transparency (7.5%) and language usability (5%).
Coverage is capacity-weighted: a country scores 100 only if essentially all of its national reservoir storage volume has public data. Quality dimensions are scoped to the typical (median) covered reservoir.
The full methodology is publicly auditable at reservoirs.earth/methodology.
