reservoirs.earth is designed to minimise cookie use. The current categories are:

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

PurposeTraffic measurement via Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland analytics storage is denied by default and only enabled if you accept the cookie banner; advertising signals are disabled everywhere.

ConsentRequired in the EEA/UK/CH (via the cookie banner); granted by default elsewhere, with opt-out honored.

Reader features (Grow by Mediavine)

PurposeOptional reader tools (bookmarking, recommended content) provided by Grow, which stores identifiers in cookies/localStorage to remember your saved items.

ConsentSame gating as analytics: requires banner acceptance in the EEA/UK/CH; loaded by default elsewhere. Never loads if you decline.

DurationPer Mediavine's privacy policy.

Third-party embeds

PurposeMap tiles (OpenStreetMap / CARTO / MapLibre) and weather data (Open-Meteo) are loaded from third-party services. These services may log your IP address as part of normal HTTP requests.

ConsentNot required for essential map functionality.

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, social-media share trackers or any cross-site tracking technology.

3. How to manage cookies

You can configure your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies. Instructions vary by browser:

Disabling strictly-necessary cookies may impair some site functionality but you will still be able to view all reservoir data and the RTI.
