Terms of Service

By accessing or using reservoirs.earth (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

reservoirs.earth is an independent open-data project that aggregates reservoir storage data from official national sources and produces the semi-annual Reservoir Transparency Index (RTI). The Site is provided free of charge and without registration.

Original derived data, the RTI dataset, the methodology and the editorial content of the Site are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

You are free to:

• ·Share: copy and redistribute in any medium or format.
• ·Adapt: remix, transform and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial.

Under the conditions:

• ·Attribution: give appropriate credit to reservoirs.earth, provide a link to the licence, and indicate if changes were made.
• ·No additional restrictions: do not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from using the material under licence terms.

Underlying official reservoir data published by national authorities follows each source's own licence; see the Data Methodology for source-by-source attribution.

You may use the Site and its data for any lawful purpose, including research, journalism, education, public-interest analysis and commercial applications, subject to the CC BY 4.0 licence terms above.

You may not:

• ·Misrepresent reservoirs.earth data as official government information.
• ·Use the data to make defamatory, misleading or false claims about countries, governments or institutions.
• ·Interfere with the operation of the Site (e.g. denial-of-service attacks, mass scraping that degrades availability for other users — please use the bulk JSON/CSV downloads instead).
• ·Reverse engineer the Site to circumvent security or rate limits.
• ·Strip attribution required by the CC BY 4.0 licence.

The Site and all data are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, reservoirs.earth disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

Reservoir data is reproduced from official national sources without modification of the underlying measurements. We do not warrant that the source data is itself accurate, up to date or complete. For decision-grade use, always verify against the original source.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, reservoirs.earth and its publisher will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from your use of the Site or its data, including but not limited to operational decisions, financial decisions, or any reliance on the data for legal, contractual or regulatory purposes.

The Site contains links to third-party websites (official national hydrological agencies, OpenStreetMap, Open-Meteo, etc.). reservoirs.earth has no control over the content, policies or availability of these sites and disclaims responsibility for them.

The Reservoir Transparency Index produces opinions on the openness of national data infrastructure, based on documented evidence and an explicit methodology. Scores are not legal or political judgements. Countries or institutions disputing a score may submit corrections with supporting evidence to info@reservoirs.earth.

We may modify these Terms at any time. The current version is always available at this URL. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage.

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts of the publisher's domicile, without prejudice to any imperative consumer protection rules that may apply to you under your local law.
